  • Needed, dome light mount plate

    This is for a C or K '53 to I believe '58.
I am in need of two plates that are fastened to the body that the dome light fastens to.
I have not been able to find a part number for this item.
I believe it is held on with two screws.
Here's a pic of the one I had off Frosty when I was rewiring him.

Jerry are they the same in 62? If so I may have at least one.

I don't know if the '62 is the same or not.
The earlier dome lights were teardrop shaped and the later ones were rectangular.
But that doesn't mean the base plates were different.
If you have one and can post a pic of it, that would be cool.

Not to hijack your thread but...
I've been looking for the same item for a 1963-66 Lark type.
        Thanks

It appears that (1) is the "Mounting Plate" as you said.

          (2) The "Other" piece shown (painted White) is the actual Lamp Base/Bulb Socket/Switch Assy. (298248 Body Complete, dome lamp) for the Lens and Chrome Cover Plate to go on.

The above are for 1953 to 1957 Studebakers that get the Arrow shaped chromed cover.

The 1958 to 1966 Models use a cheaper Stainless Steel rectangular Cover and Lense and a different Base/Body.

The '57 Packards, use a '55-'56 Detroit Packard Dome Light which is why it is a 64XXXXX Part Number.

Side note: UGH! I just Hate these new type Photobucket pics, you click them to enlarge and it goes to the owner's Photobucket Site and the + sign there does NOTHING to enlarge it.

            Yes Rich.
I don't need the white part.
I just need two mounting plates.
You say 'different base and body', does that mean the mounting plates are different?

Also, I have grown to dislike Photobucket very much.
I have a Postimage.org account and as soon as I figure out how to post images from there to here, I will drop Photobucket.

Is it better to upload pix from my computer than from a picture host site?
              This is from my computer.

Sorry Jerry, I know nothing about the actual Mounting Bracket or as you say "Plate", I thought it would be one piece but have not found it either in Catalogs, it may just be part of the Body/Roof structure.
