I'd suggest, "Your results may vary."

Well, knowing the seller to be a good guy, I'd say he's probably right.

Hmmmm. What sort of heads would it take to need a serious clean up? That engine must have been blowing smoke like a mosquito fogger.

I find it amazing there is a market for these considering I scrapped about a dozen of them 15-20 years ago, I guess I should have kept them. Back then you could not give them away

I do however suggest some new valve seals may be in order.

Yeah, that would fall under "light clean-up". I would consider that to include any work short of machine-shop work. Clean the chambers with a wire wheel. Remove the valves, lap valves to seats with compound, clean gasket surface with sanding board (wash away all grit after!), and install new seals. Result, serviceable heads to be used to fix an engine that has head problems. If doing a complete overhaul, then do the machine work, too.

I have done this many times to heads that looked to be in similar condition, and got good results.

The spark plug insulators look fairly uniformly tan, like the highly averaged running mixture and combustion was OK on the previous engine.

If it was Sunday night before a work day I'd probably test the valve sealing quality with solvent in the ports.
