It's been a slow summer for progress on the 74 Avanti but I've been able to spend more time on it the last month or so. Just in time to hit cold weather.
The paint has been totally sanded up to 3000 grit on the whole body. The hood, front fascia and roof have been taken to final polish as you can kinda see in this shot. I left the rest until I'm finished to make touchup easier. And because I was just dang tired of sanding and polishing!
The heat and a/c unit is mounted and plumbed inside the car.
The dash is partially wired and ready for the new dash.
The engine compartment with the a/c compressor installed. The downside is I lost my beloved Brodix valve covers to install the compressor. The new ones are 84-86 Corvette magnesium covers powder coated Black. I guess it's better to be cool in the car than under the hood!
I left the OEM wiper motor in place as it worked well instead of replacing it with a newer Camaro unit as I've done in the past. I just couldn't come to grips with the exposed wiring on the motor so I built a cover from a 3 1/2" pipe cap. I also went with through bulkhead connectors to put the hoses through the firewall. The air cleaner for the ram air hood is in-place and just needs the sealing gasket added.
The dash is currently out for upholstery but here are a couple of shots of coming attractions.
My plans were to drive it to SB for the 2017 International but unless we get a very warm March and April, It will probably be the Ram-vanti.
