  • T-86 leak

My T-86 is leaking fluid where the counter shaft engages the front of the transmission case, I've looked in the manual but can't seem to identify what seals it.
    Thanks

It's supposed to be such a tight fit in there that no seal is used. Sounds like the case my be damaged, and developing some slop on the cluster pin.

"Old-Timers" quick fix. Loosen the tranny mounting bolts, slide it back just far enough to clean the face of the tranny. Apply a inner tube patch over the end of the cluster shaft. Slide the tranny back and re-tourque the mounting bolts. Granted, this will not repair a worn cluster shaft, but it'll stop the oil leak. Seen it done many times on old T-10's. Hope this helps. Remember...if it ain't leakin', it must be empty.[^]
