  • Cool/Heat: Air condition 51 Starlight coupe

Does anyone have any suggestions regarding installing an air conditioner in a 1951 Starlight Coupe State Commander V 8.
    Thanks,
    Ron Acton

Since A/C was not a factory option in 1951 Studebakers, I would start by contacting VintageAir.

If you have already converted to 12V, it should be fairly painless for Vintage Air, or a similar company, to help you out.
If you are still running 6V, that will be the first problem, since I believe no one is making a/c systems to accommodate them.
One more thing though, I did see on Jegs website a while back, that they sell an electric a/c compressor, which apparently is what electric cars use.
So if you can power it through 12V or whatever, you can use that instead of a traditional belt driven compressor.
Just an option to consider, since either method would not be original to your car. Good luck, and keep us updated on your progress!
