I just got a e-mail about the Studebaker tailgate letters by Ray. i figured this would be a good time to give them a recommendation. He sells them in most any color, they go on easy, are cheap and look great. Here's a pix and Ray's e-mail

I am still kicking myself for being cheap and not buying the tailgate letter that SASCO had when I first saw it. [xx(]

Steve, They're like vinyl appliques. You float them onto the tailgate with some warm, soapy, water and work them onto the countours of the raised letters (easy to do). Then simply let them dry. Once on - they STAY on! I've had them on Pete now - for at least 7 years or so. Look like new still.;)

They should make them in more colors than black and two shades of white. Mine are tan.

I've tried every way to contact Ray. With no luck , emails undeliverable.
I even thought of having a stencil made to paint them.

Just spoke with the people at Studebakerparts.com . They don't have letters either, as they were getting them from Ray-Lin restoration also and he's no where to be located. Thanks for everyone's help

I hope someone can get the letters going again. Mine have been on my truck for 13 years without a blemish.

I still get comments on them... "I didn't know Studebaker was still making trucks ! " is my favorite.

I found a gentleman in Nebraska that is making me a stencil to paint mine on. He advised he can make the vinyl ones also.

That is just the opposite of how the factory did it.
You can trust Stu and what he does. I have had him make everything from trophies to a custom trim piece for a Thunderbird.
Welcome to the SDC Forum! I see you are from Chesnee. Is this David W-----. If not, I assume that you know him.
