  • 1945 Wartime Civilian Stude M15 Slat side truck

Hi all, we have a restored 1945 Stude Truck VIN 2M2623 that was one of the few produced during the war. We are needing to sell it, but we have no idea what it is worth. Can any of you help or point us in the right direction? It is very similar to this one. http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=...5H0&ajaxhist=0

    Thank you in advance,

    Kristi

Welcome to the forum. I can't help you myself, but I'll let you know you're about to become very popular among Studebaker truck owners.

Hi and welcome to the forum. A few questions about the truck folks will want to know,
          1) Is it a "blackout" model as the one in the pic you supplied with painted headlight rims and little to no chrome inside or out? These trucks had very little brightwork in any configuration.
          2) Is it the C-9 cab like the one in the pic? The difference is in the windshield, the C-9 will have a hinged windshield that swings out versus a fixed windshield in the other trucks. (I think it will also say on the plate attached to the step riser on the drivers side).
          3) Do you know which engine the truck has? I am assuming the truck was restored to original, correct?
And finally we love pics!!! Good Luck, Steve

            Kristi-
The number you posted, 2M2623, is an engine number, not a vehicle serial number -- however, back in the day, some states registered vehicles by engine number. In any case, that number does fall in the correct range for the engine in a 1945 M15 truck. Features that distinguish an M15 from the later M15A models are wipers mounted above the windshield, and a windshield that opens. These trucks used the C9 military cab as a shortcut to getting them into production quickly. Your truck is collectible, but its value will depend on its condition. In other words, it could be worth $200 to $20,000, depending on condition. Rust -- how much and where? Other body damage? Engine run? Brakes? Some things, like paint and tires, just cost money to fix. Others, like serious rust, take a lot of time, effort, and money to fix.

Your best bet is to take some pix and post them both here and on the Stude Truck Talk site mentioned in post #3 above. You will get better advice on value and maybe even some offers to consider. Something to remember is that although your truck is rare (exactly 4000 built in 1945 and 46), the market for them is pretty limited. So it might take some rather aggressive national advertising (eg, ebay) to receive maximum return. Good luck with your truck.

Yes it is a blackout model with the hinged windshield and i think an inline 6. Yes it was restored to original. I will have to try and post pics for you all to see. I think that will help. Thanks
