  • Studes at Barrett-Northeast

Had a heck of a good time today at the Barrett-Jackson "NORTHEAST" vehicle auction, which is being presented for the first time at the beautiful Mohican Sun Hotel-Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut!

Glad I wore a comfortable pair of sneakers, as we walked for what seemed like miles!

There were many flawless, high end cars for sale there, as well as several average (but real nice) driver quality cars.

Saw three Studebaker-related cars, (a '47, a '50, and an '89 Avanti) and one Packard Convertible at the auction...Weather was perfect!...Pics to follow after I get some sleep!!

Living just a few miles south of Mohegan Sun the impact of the B-J auction on the area is quite noticeable. I anticipate it being larger every year. I was told that over 11,000 people were registered as bidders. Maybe some SDC members are visiting there before heading for Warwick.

I have watched most of the TV coverage for the first two days. I saw a stock appearing 1936 Studebaker four door sedan and a nice restomod 1950 Champion convertible sold. I believe that the 1950 sold for $27K. I had figured it at $35K (partly figuring that a simiar Chevrolet would be $70K.

A friend of mine ordered up two 3 day passes a few months ago. (I saw Christy Lee!) The vehicles were on display on one floor of the parking garage, and two very large tents outside...access to the cars was excellent!

There was a very nicely restored '47 Champion Starlight Coupe for sale, as well as a NICE '89 Champagne Gold Avanti....The Avanti brought twelve-five...a real good deal IMHO (I saw Christy Lee!)

The 1947 Studebaker Champion five passenger coupe (erroneously called a Starlight) sold for $21.5K.

A '47 Champion 2dr with the four piece 'wraparound' rear window wasn't commonly known as a 'Starlight Coupe' in '47 Gary?

This '89 Avanti coupe HAD to be worth the $12,500 the owner got for it (no reserve)...This Avanti has a beautiful beige leather interior.

It is certainly a nice collection of pictures from the auction. What was the engine in the 50 'vert, I missed that on the broadcast? Nice pix, thx. Bob

Thank you!...I carried this over from the 'Stove Huggers' section cause I don't see a way to post pictures in that section of the Stude Forum.

                            Is there a way?....Thanks again!

PS....I have lots more photos...some great engine shots...but they are not Studebaker....Shall I post them?
