Will the fake chrome hood scoop from a 61 Hawk fit the 62 GT?

Yes but you will have to drill holes in the hood to mount it. Same hood minus the chrome.

Maybe not - note that a true '62 Hawk hood has the forward part of the raised feature shaped in a "V" while the earlier hoods were straight across which matched the chrome piece back side.
Of course, I have seen more than one '62 Hawk with an earlier replacement hood - the two holes were filled, but the straight front face gave the history of the hood away.

I thought a 62 was suppose to be the same as a 57-61 and 63-64 had a different hood.

Here is a 61 with hood scoop and a 62 without. I'm no expert but the hood on both look the same to me except for the grill.

The hoods are identical.'57 to '62.. I've had my '61 next to a '62,both without the chrome piece on. The '62 got the chrome piece after I painted the car.

Wayne I just looked at two hoods that I have. One off a 58 all original sliver hawk with 30,000 miles and the other a 62. The 62 has a very small v in the center but I think if you elongate the holes for the chrome so you can adjust it back as tight to the hood as possible no one will notice. The 58 hood is straight across at the front. I have pictures of it but cant get them to upload at the moment. If I get that fixed I will post them so you can see the difference.

The '62 Hawk hood will interchange with the '57-61 one, but it has one difference. If you look closely at the front of the raised part on top you will see that Brooks Stevens redesigned the front of that raised part. Instead of being straight across it is V'd. That way it looks finished without the chrome piece.

Wayne The first hood picture is the 62 hood the second is the 58 hood. You can see the holes needed to mount the chrome on the 58 hood. Just drill those holes and then slot them to the rear of the hood so you can be sure the chrome is as tight to the hood as possible. Steve

I'm sorry swvalcon but I can't tell anything by looking at those pictures, they are a bit over exposed, but thanks for posting them.

The '62 hood is different & a scoop can not install without cutting a large hole, which I would not do.
