  • Congrats: Steve Doerschlag, Best Hot Rod Truck

Cool beans to SDCer Steve Doerschlag!

Steve's silver 1937 Studebaker Coupe Express, with R2 Studebaker Power, won Hot Rod magazine's BEST TRUCK award in their Homebuilt Heros competition. This contest was initiated in the July 2007 issue of Hot Rod, wherein the Editors solicited photos of vehicles and their stories, with the stipulation that they must NOT be professionally built. Winners in each catagory were selected solely by the Hot Rod staff.

There were 45 catagories, such as Best Camaro, Best Use of Used Parts, Best Modern Treatment on the Pro Street Theme, and other sorts of odd catagories. For Steve's silver 1937 Studebaker Coupe Express to have won Best Truck Overall was quite an honor. His truck received a full page in color in the February 2008 Hot Rod, now in subscriber's hands and "soon at a newsstand near you!"

    Congrats, Steve! BP

    Cool beans indeed.

I must have about 100 pictures of this truck (OK, that's an exaggeration...maybe only 80 ). Here it is after the Spokane IM at the GoodGuys show the following weekend.

    Here it is at Omaha...

Anybody have a picture of Steve's CE along side of Jeff's?

WOW, this is cool! Thanks for passing on this info, Bob! Steve is a busy guy and doesn't get onto the forums very often, so I'll be sure to pass your Congrats on to him. He and his truck are very deserving of the honor.

Congratulations, Steve. A well-deserved award. And it's nice to see Hot Rod Magazine devoting a little more attention to home-built cars.
