Studebaker in Brooklyn NY

Does anyone know the history of this building in Brooklyn?

I think I read somewhere that this was a Studebaker parts depot and showroom.
Read it is being refurbished as office building with a Studebaker themed restaurant on street level.

I remember, when I was a kid, my dad, who loved Studebakers, used to go to the Studebaker parts depot in New Hyde Park, Long Island. He always took me with him. When Studebaker went out of the auto business, that building was converted into a paint and home decorating company called Pergament. The Pergament company no longer exists.

I passed this building going to and from work. "in a whack neighborhood" simply means you would not want to be there at night. After open school nights the police would be out in force on Atlantic Ave, where the building is located. I was stopped a couple of times at night when presiding over night school events. All I did was show my ID and was on my way. The area is now becoming gentrified.

Back in the 20's, things weren't built as cheap as possible. There was quality, too bad we aren't that way today.
