  • Tachometer Sending Units

I have a '64 tach and there is one for a 'K' and one for 'Except K'. Larks have different tachs between '63 and '64 units. Hawks are for '63-'64. There are two sending units. One is round and the other is square. SI sells a circuit board for either sending unit. The parts manual just gives a part number. Because SI sells a service part, the part numbers are not the same. This brings up a couple of questions...

    1) How do I tell which sending unit is needed?

    2) Do any of the vendors carry complete units?

By the way, this is for a '64 Daytona...

The round sending unit is for the Jet Thrust (R1 & R2) cars, whilethe rectangle is for the non-JT Hawks. To my knowledge, you could only get a tach in a Lark from the factory with a JT engine.

It was probably installed after the build. It is a 4-speed car, but it's originally a 289-2bbl. The car was bought as a roller. Tach was in the car, but there is no sending unit. I guess I know what I'll be looking for at South Bend.

      Thanks Eric!

Just out of curiosity, does anyone have a spare round sending unit?

I've been looking for a round one for my 63 R2 Hawk forever.
