Engine: Normal operating temp of a 1940 6 flathead??

What should my temp be for a 1940 flathead 6 when driving?

Depends a lot on outside temp and what is in it for a thermostat. Here in Mn in the winter time most of those little old 6's couldn't build enough heat to even make the heaters work.

I don't have one that old. But, engine components and science did not change dramatically year to year. So, I would say 170 t0 180F., depending on what thermostat you are running. What does your manual say?
