The M supposedly had a 12-91 Detroit Diesel in it. George O sent me a video clip of it running and driving this morning.

The diesel truck with the M cab seemed to be a complete "creation". The chassis was welded up from rectangular steel tube, the front axle came from a school bus, and the rear axle appeared to be from some other heavy-duty truck. The nose, front fenders, and side pieces had been welded together as part of the tilt nose. The exhausts went to some 6"-8" diameter thin-wall steel pipe as vertical stacks, no mufflers to be seen. While the chassis seemed to have been made carefully enough, the rest was pretty rough. There was no cab interior to speak of, not even seats. To be fair, he didn't claim it was finished, but it will always be a rat rod. That said, with a huge supercharged V-12 diesel, it is a VERY impressive rat rod. I think everybody who saw it was impressed and enjoyed the idea that someone would spend the time and trouble to create something like this. I worried a bit that every wheel seemed to have only 4 or 5 lug nuts on the 16-20 wheel studs. I'm pretty sure he isn't driving it down the road yet, though. It did look like a fun beast!

I guess I can throw my tickets away now.
Interesting that both prizes went to PA folks. I wonder what percentage of the tickets are sold outside the area?

It's not really that often the winner is in PA. One Lark convertible got shipped to New Zealand, a '50 Champion got driven to Texas, last year's Land Cruiser went to Georgia.
