Hamilton Alabama has huge signs about that being Sonny's hometown. He had some great songs when I was growing up, w/ Running Bear, Since I Met You Baby, and Young Love being my fav's back then. Good guy, real gentleman....

Sonny will be missed by those who knew his music. I love the oldies!

You've got to be "of a certain age" as they say to really remember and appreciate Sonny James.

How good was he?

Here's something I just learned. Of all the great country singers/groups, Sonny had the longest string of #1 hits, 16 in a row, and 26 total at # 1.

And, over that long career of fame and fortune there's not one hint of hubris, scandal, arrogance or ill behavior or any kind.

Country's not my kind of music, but Sonny set the standard for both talent and behavior.

A man to admire.

One of my all time favorites. When Miss Edie and I were dating (1967-68) his version of "World of our Own" was Our Song. We saw him perform at the Jacksonville Coliseum several times. A truly great entertainer.

I remember hearing "Young Love" over and over again on the radio way back when. Glad to have it on my ipod.
