  • Shifter stick for a T-5

My brother and I put a T-5 transmission in his 57 Transtar some time ago. The stock S-10 shifter worked okay, but it looked out of place to us and many people immediately identified its origins. Joe got the machine shop teacher from a nearby school to turn a taper on a piece of round stock and thread the end for a 5-speed knob. We heated and bent the rod to a shape that would work and flattened the lower end so it could be drilled to bolt to the Hurst base he had. It still has to be painted and most people will think it is an after market part, but he likes it.
I have heard people say for years that a modified vehicle is never really done. It it certainly true. This truck just keeps on getting little upgrades the longer he has it. Good fun and it gives us something to talk about with our SDC friends.
