  • 64 Daytona Hard Tops

When the new '64 Studebakers were introduced I was a 17 year old high school student. It was "love at first sight" with the Avanti, the GT Hawk , and the Daytona Hardtop. Now that I'm an old xart and have a buck or two, I see lots of Avantis and GT Hawks for sale. Where are all the '64 Daytonas hiding?...I hardly ever see one for sale.

I think that there was only about 1200 built if so how many could be still on the earth as cars? I have in the shop and have scrapped one and sent a few out of the country, and sold a couple here and don't know where they are now.

                  You're welcome!

It appears you are already receiving some excellent responses on your thread just for them. Keep up the good work!

I restored this one. It left the factory Strato Blue, 259 V8, 2 bbl, automatic, front bench, Dana 27 w/3.07 gear (open). Now it is Laguna blue, 289 V8, 4 bbl, 4 speed, front buckets, Dana 44 w/3.54 gear TT. Very tight car. Very fun to drive. We've had it on the road 1 year and put 3300 miles on it. It is a really fun car.Click image for larger version

I stand corrected, and I think the number that are still some where other than China is still rather high, same as the Avanti.

64 Daytona hard tops are great cars. I have owned three of them thru the years. Last one was an R2 4 speed.
