Jet thrust motor

I am in a possible position
To buy a jt motor I'm assuming it was once the r 2 set up! But no longer has any of the supercharger items. Looking for opinions to this decision and the obvious problem in finding the rest of the cake!

Check the stamped number on the left front (drivers side) of the engine block. If there is a JT in front of the # it is an R1 engine, if it has a JTS, it is an R2 (super charged) engine.

The above is good info to know if you are looking into buying this.

But for Supercharged use, keep in mind that IF it is an R1 JT Engine and it still has the original Flat top Pistons and 1557570 Heads, the compression will be 10.25 a bit too much to add a Paxton for Street use in that configuration, but can be corrected.

As previously mentioned, it's the supercharger and bracketry which is rare and expensive. There's not much rare and valuable about an R2 engine core without the supercharger. Don't pay too much of a premium for something which may need rebuilding anyway. If a JTS does need a complete rebuild, then it's not that much more expensive to start with a standard 289" and make it into a better-than-R2.
