  • I need help with identifying this rearaxel

It was on a 1949 2R5 Pick up but I can not find it in the shop manual or in the parts catalog.
There was no reference to the tag wich was under the bult.

It is a type 41 - note that "41" is cast in.

It looks like a 4.88 gear.

        Thanks,
I recognize the type 41 casted. According to the shop manual and parts catalog the ratio should be 4.82 as I have type A shock absorber.
But the tag saying 53 with 2 II:s under the line pussels me. Anybody have a clou on what that means?

          53 tooth ring gear and 11 tooth pinion. 53 divided by 11 = 4.818.

Studebaker often used the I for 1 on a lot of stamped plates.

Thanks a lot! What a wonderful Studebaker world there is with all that knowledge we can get via this forum.
