    Is that an early ('57/'58) supercharger mounting bracket on this engine?

        I looked at this car about a month ago from a craigslist ad he had.
        59 Lark wagon, now V-8, H.D. auto!

          Inflation has now made a professionally machined and assembled R2 engine with forged pistons and 4-speed cost $5,000. That's not RASO territory any more. That's just what it costs today to do it all to a high standard.

          Having said that, trusting a third-hand account of a many-years-ago-not-guaranteed rebuild makes that price problematic. Was the block line honed, decked, bored and diamond honed to exact diameter, all new wear parts, including valves and guides, hard exhaust seats, moly rings?
