  • Body / Glass: Trunk Lid Adjustment

I'm assembling my car with a trunk lid that fit great without the trunk seals, but now that I've glued in the seals the front, hinge end, of the lid will not go down. It is up about 3/16 above the body and I'm running out of screw length to add more shims. Any clues on what to do?
    Thanks

So...to understand, are you shimming between the hinge and body mount area? If you have the seal installed properly, it might be that the fresh seal is holding the lid high. My suggestion would be to remove the hinges, set the trunk lid in place and let it compress for a few days. You might even want to add a bit of weight. After that, a shim might get it where you want. I've installed new door shims, trunk shims, and hood shims that cause similar problems. But after some time, they compress and fit becomes better. It might not be your problem, but worth a try. You don't want to overly stress the pins in those hinges.
