  • Studebakers at Carlisle

I was at Carlisle fall car show today. It was a little wet, but lots of nice
    overpriced cars there. I saw 5 Studebakers. A '63 cruiser for $8,500
    '59 P/U for $8,900
'50 commander mild custom for $20,000
    '63 GT Hawk for $17,900
    '60 Lark Convertable for $13,500
On the way home I found a '58 Commander 4 door on a car lot. The lot was closed, and there was no price on the car. If anyone is interested, I could check it out monday and see what he wants for it.

Wow, I took almost the same pics, Was there Friday..

The Lark Convert had a SBC engine and was there last Spring, same spot too. The 63 Cruiser, likewise, in the Spring and now sports an aluminum radiator. GT Hawk had low miles but evidence of a recent make-over...
A couple McCullochs were laying around also, one for 350, other 750
        64 GT Hawk (K7)
        1970 Avanti (R3)

Prices are going up because of the investment guys and ebay. I just got a call on my Avanti on ebay. They guy did not know anything about Studebakers, wanted to know if the 63 was a "real" Avanti, he didn't know it was made of fiberglass and so on. He did know they were listed as one of the cars to buy as a investrment.

Dang, I hate it when that starts happenning. People who buy cars for the "investment" should be gently guided back into real estate where they belong!

It's people like that that ruin the hobby for those of us that really DO love cars. [V]

Well, he hit the Buy It Now on the Avanti and it's going to one of his homes in Florida or Georgia. The good news is it'll be stored inside, and I think he may drive it a bit, maybe become a fan. He may try to win my GT Hawk too, his wife thinks it's pretty. You have to admit it's more fun then coins or the stock market.

How does one become filty rich like that other then inheriting it? I
guess maybe drug running, or prostitution? I know that my college
degree certainly wont ever get me there. I am not Italian, so I can
not join the Mafia. Hummm. Maybe I could win the Lotto?? Yah right!
