  • 1953 Commander Coupe

A friend of mine in just purchased a pretty clean low mileage original 1953 Commander and is looking for a few replacement parts. Does anyone know of a supplier he can contact? or even some part numbers/names to help him locate these? Hopefully the descriptions below will help...

    1. Driver's side front grill
    2. Sheet metal filler panel that goes across the front beneath the grills and above the front bumper
    3. Sheet metal valence panel that goes beneath the rear bumper (with half round notch for exhaust pipe exit)

    Any suggestions would be welcome!
    Thanks,
    Don

Number 2 and 3 are doable, maybe a poster here like Barry Hackney in Texas has them, but Number 1, good luck!

      Welcome to the SDC Forum!

For #3 - That is a one year only part. The 1953s used a smaller panel than for 1954s and I do not remember it as having a "notch" (as a 1954 would have).

For #1 - That is also a one year only part. A 1954 C/K part will fit. The important thing to keep in mind is that the grilles are different for C/K models (Starlight/Starliner) than for sedans.
