Well we are back in NY, and sorry we had to leave early. For the first time in my life, I have nothing to complain about. Everything was planned out to the enth degree. Everyone from the Omaha Chapter made our journey and stay really easy. We only had a chance to get about 40% of our goodies out for sale. There are too many people to list and thank for a great week.

The response to our line, and the new products for the SDC store was great. The staff at the Holiday Inn, was great. Our stuff was there, when we arrived, and they got it shipped back to NY for us.

I want to say a big thanks to Rhonda. God Bless her, can she pack boxes, take orders, and help Ellen, all without missing a beat.

Dave, I sure hope your head heals and I am sending you a hard hat to use when you work on Shieba.

We left the show around 4pm, trying to say good-byes to as many folks we could, but after walking the parking lot, and the hotel, we missed thanking a hell of a lot of people. Our intentions were to get 200 or 300 miles east and stay over for two nights, arriving in NY late Saturday.

Suffice it to say, the best laid plans of mice and men can go astray.

We wound up driving for 8 hours, pulling into a number of motels. One would nt allow people who smoked to enter the lobby, and one we were warned not to stay at by a lady at a fuel stop. We found a Hampton Inn somewhere. We got up at 7am and the computer said we could make home in 12 hrs 18 min. So we decided to "go for it". At 9 pm we hit the Deleware Water Gap, computer said we could be home in time for the 11pm news.

Ellen pulled into a fuel stop, and made a wrong turn. We were in the back of a truck stop and looked like a J-3 taxing infront of 747's.

We finally fueled up, and got onto I-80, and just east of Newton NJ, there was horrific police action, all of I-80 was backed up. At one point, we counted 8 detective cars had passed us on the left, using the grass divider Took us two hours to go 1 mile where police ushered trucks and cars off onto some road. As we exited onto the road, two State Police cars came out of nowhere, and drove by us on the left thru bushes and trees. we traveled about 1/2 mile and a local police car pulled us over. We were in a railroad station parking lot trying to figure where we were. He went over our paperwork like we were trying to cross out of pre-war Germany.

He claimed that we did not see a Yield sign........ after going thru this, we asked how to get to either the George Washington Brige or Tappan Zee Bridge........ He mumbled something about taking some roads etc.

Instead of arriving home at 11 pm, we pulled into the driveway sometime around 2:30 am.

It was a great week, excellent food, and great company. The Studebakers were magnificent, as some who did not attend can see by the photos posted by others.

It is only 8 months till the South Bend meet, and by that time I hope to have everything together.

Thanks to everyone

Bill

I had a feeling that the black one was a winner, did not know who owned it though. Congratulations.
