  • 74 Avanti Progress

It seems like I've been sanding high build off the 74 for years but it's been a couple of months and two gallons of catalyzed primer. Why that long you ask, "cause I'm old" and I just can't put in more than a few hours a day and golf and family keep calling.

The body has been worked down with 220 and 320 in most spots. The jams, door edges, inside trunk lid and trunk opening have been sprayed and the doors installed.

Restoration Shop catalyzed Acrylic Enamel on the door edge.

Installing the passengers door by myself, no nicks.

The gaps you see are better than OEM as I've modified the door some but this was the worst fitting Avanti door I've seen. I can understand how Brad makes a living when you look at how nice his door gaps are compared to most every other Avanti out there.

I now need to finish final sanding and spray the entire car. Hopefully the next post will be the 74 completely covered with Daytona Yellow.

Nice work Bob. You put us all (well, most of us) to shame.

I was STUDEBAKER, when STUDEBAKER wasn't "KOOL".

Most can only aspire to that level of quality. I'm a big fan of yellow cars and trucks. No idea why.
