I think I encountered his brother today, he wants $5000 for $50.00 worth of chainsaws. Then again, if it was made in the mid fifties rather than the late forties it may well be worth his price...

yeah, i think he was doing a little "time tripping" as well...

when a CL ad doesn't include a contact info link (other than e-mailing the seller back on CL), my first thought is always "scam"!!!

The seller sets the price, but the buyer sets the value.

The photos posted are not of a mid-fifties Champion.
The seller couldn't photograph the actual mid-fifties Champion because there were too many trees and bushes growing around and through it.

The center section (only the center) is 47 Champion IIRC

UPDATE: I made my statement a bit clearer.
I really did not think anyone would think I would drive 700 Miles each way to drag home a $50.00 POC and Pay anywhere near $5000.00!

The seller's more likely to get $5,000.00 for whatever he's smoking and as an enticement give the Studebaker away for a place to plant the seeds!

Bez believes the bumper bar from a '47 Champion was used for the Packard Hawks. I tried to get Anne Goodman to check this out, since (for a while) she had both--a '47 Champion, and Packard Hawk parts, including the front bumper.
'Course the car pictured is a '48, but who cares...I believe that other than different bolt holes, the bar is the same.
