  • Engine: Engine Block paint color

    Dear Friends,
I would like to paint my engine block. I have a 1963 Studebaker lark straight six. My question is what type and color or shade of black paint should I use?

I have one too in my GT Hawk. The engine block must be black. The valve cover is yellow. Oil disptick and fan are orange. My oil cap was black but some are also orange.

I can't tell you what shade or gloss of black is correct, but lately I've been using Rustoleum semi-gloss black to paint generators, and it looks as good as any paint in a spray can. If you want a black that is really black and not a hint of gray, then try PPG DCC9000 or 9300. But then you'll also have to buy hardeners and thinners and cleaners for the spray gun.
