View Full Version : Ignition: Hawk ignition switch wiring placement

I took the ignition switch out of the Hawk to replace it and, and made a newbie error, now I am not sure I can trust my 71 year old memory to put the wires back in the right places. Does any one have a picture of the back of a 60's Hawk ignition switch with wires attached. I have checked the shop manual and I have trouble making sense of it. As I remember the Pink wire went to the Ign pole and all of the Black wires went to the Bat pole with white wires with black tracer goes on the acc pole. The push on wire of course goes on the St pole, that's the only one I am totally sure of.

Only the heavy Gauge Power Wires should go to the Batt. Term. and go into the Main Harness.
You can see the loose 18 Ga. wires that go to the Radio, Heater and Lighter are not in the Harness, so go to the "ACC" Post (on MOST Models, yours may vary).

You got the Ign. Wire and the Start wire, so that should be it.

The Wiring diagram is in the back of the Shop Manual and can be enlarged, or go to the internet version on: studebakerparts.com Website.
