  • 1941Champion in Chile: NEW VIDEO

It is with great pleasure that I announce that another Studebaker has been rescued here in Chile. This time a nice, strong, complete and very few times molested 1941 Champion sedan. The car languished for almost five years in a house (fortunately under roof) after being a daily driver for their owner, who has died.

The fact that it is a four door is very suited because it is planned to be used in commercials and marriages.(and of course Studebakerchile meetings) The nice thing is that another younger fellow (Mr Alejandro Rademacher) has been finally interested in Studes and will begin to enjoy the delights of the indestructible Champion.

The short video shows the first engine turnings after five years. All their instrumenst are operative, including their nice radio. The engine runs smooth and no strange noises are heard but unfortunately it seems that their piston rings can be stuck as you can see the smoke

Looks like a pretty neat find! The rings might loosen up a bit with some driving. Thanks for sharing the video![^]

    Miscreant adrift in
    the BerStuda Triangle

    1957 Transtar 1/2ton
    1960 Larkvertible V8
    1958 Provincial wagon
    1953 Commander coupe

No deceptive flags to prove I'm patriotic - no biblical BS to impress - just ME and Studebakers - as it should be.

            Hi Ricardo,

Congratulations on saving another Studebaker. In fact, thank you for saving ALL of the Studebakers that you have saved! I saw your museum website and it is very impressive. Hopefully you will be able to find and save many more. I'm looking forward to the movie when the '41 Champion is finished and serving in a commercial or marriage ceremony.

I don't have a particular color recommendation for your car. Traditionally, if the car is to be used for formal occasions it is painted the darker colors. However, I think just plain white would look nice on your '41. That would probably be more in keeping with the traditions of a wedding vehicle.

Good luck in all of your future ventures!

Thank for your comments and goodwill. Hope to upgrade that Champion to excellent, dependable condition. Of course that green seat covers and red carpet shown in the video, must to go soon.

Sonny: The Museum , unfortunately, is not mine. Their owner is a gentleman named Bernardo Eggers who is SDC member too.

Oops! [:I] I should read more carefully. I try to visit these forums at least once a week, but usually I'm way behind. But thanks again for the video!

Today we managed to have the Champion engine operating in good condition for a couple of hours. It runs smoothly.
                            The serial numbers are
                            Tag on body:
                            3GW-5
                            7878

                            Engine:
                            B 28 7
                            99697

Can some of you friend help me to decode those numbers on our 41 Champion?
