    I think I did ok today. Ran into a guy that was making an old R series truck into a "Rat Rod" & found out he was going to scrap the engine. Got the whole thing including carb (WW 2 bbl), distributor (although it's just a Presto-junk) & a pair of recently reconditioned heads for $100 bucks. I have to check the casting number but I think it's a 289 crank too.

        I did almost the same thing a month ago. A guy 100 miles north of my was hot rodding a 51 Champion Starlite Coupe, so he sold me the complete engine and overdrive tranny for $100. The only thing missing was the air cleaner.
