  • memorbilia---they keep coming out and I keep learning

I have several Studebaker watches and fobs. I just was scanning mr. ebay and found one I never saw before. The stamping on the back tells me it is indeed an original. Initial thoughts were it was a repop as it looks so nice and new.

    Anyone have one of these???

If you look at the front you can see the residue of some type of polish. Could be why is sparkles, then again it could be there to trick you. I am on my iPhone, I bet if you blow up the back you can tell by how crisp the logo is.

I would probably only pay repro price because I've seen fakes of some things that I couldn't tell from the real thing. My brother bought some silver dollars that sure looked real, but they turned out to be China repro's.

If I'm looking on eBay, and aren't sure whether a item is real or repro, I typically look at the other things the seller has listed for sale. If I spot a known (to me) repro among his other goods, I pass on bidding on the initial piece. John

I wouldn't mind having a reproduction watch fob. That way I could use and enjoy it without any qualms. In fact, number two in Richard's collection below would suit me just fine!

Here a few more. The 4th one (J. M. Studebaker Trophy) was a golfing award from 1925 and is sterling silver.

Buy a house across from the museum in South Bend to display your memorabilia in ( I am betting you can fill it up) and then donate it to the museum upon your demise. That way you will have a place to stay when in South Bend and can still enjoy your collection.

It would be nice if your collection could be kept intact for prosperity to view.

I have been selling on Ebay since 2001 and have yet to sell a Studebaker item from my collection for which that I did not have duplicates. The youngest die hard Studebaker guy can't afford it.
