  • Novi Trunk Mount A/C or Under Dash A/C Unit

    Hi all,
Quick question, I have a 56 President and am investigating A/C options. I test drove a 55 once with a Novi trunk mount and was very impressed. It's my guess that 56 would have had the same unit. Are trunk mounts superior in any way, or should I just go with a new under dash system? Thank you in advance for your feedback.

Factory air in '56 was trunk-mounted. It may be hard to find that setup. If you just want cooling, the modern Vintage Air units with a compact compressor is much easier to install and draws a lot less power.

Considering a Vintage-Air unit for my 57 Packard wagon.
I don't think A/C was available on wagons (no trunk) so the Novi unit
Is out. Plus I wouldn't want to lose all the power it would use to operate.
Yes, Vintage Air is the ticket!

Thanks all. I saw the Packard unit on FB. I'm guessing that would need a refurb and retrofit before it could be used. Sounds like the Novi unit is a real draw on power, but it does seem to cool the car almost instantaneously.
