  • lookin 4 a 12v OD solenoid T 96

Hi all, anybody know where I can get a 12v OD solenoid 4 a BW T96?

I believe SI has them with core exchange for a couple hundred dollars. Jerry Kurtz usually has tested used ones for half that. I would suspect a variety of our other SDC venders as well.

      Is this a two-wire or a three-wire? Makes a big difference.

Try Vern Ediger. 316-215-1166. I know he has 3 wire.

Your WTB is in the right place. Members here regularly scrap out complete T96 OD for less than some sellers want for just the solenoid.

Should also be noted that, car OR trucks - T-85, T-86, T-89, T-96 - the solenoids will ALL physically interchange. Technically, 12V solenoids from 1956 and '57 would be two-wire units. 1958 thru 1966 would be three-wire units. 6Volt solenoids (from '55 and earlier) will be two-wire units.

funny, I've been using mine on 12V for about 20 years now... Only thing I did in 12V conversion was new wires (rats ate the old ones), new bulbs, coil ( not needed with a resistor), and just didn't bother using generator/ regulator they're unhooked... I charge it and drive in the daylight.....LOL

I believe the 64-66 solenoids are also two wire, but not interchangeable with the 56-57 solenoids. This later style can be used, but requires a different wiring harness.

With two tone paint, it sure is cool

Its got 8 cylinders and uses them all
With an overdrive that just won't stall

With a 4 barrel carb and dual exhausts
With 4.23 gears it can really get lost

Its got safety belts and I ain't scared
The brakes are good and the tires are fair.

Tried to sell her, but got no taker
I"ll just keep driving my Studebaker
