  • 1949 - 2R10 Wheels

I'm replacing the old lock ring wheels on my 49 2R10. I've decided on a set from Stockton Wheels and plan on ordering them Monday unless any one has other suggestions. I'm not sure what they are worth as they are pretty rusty. The tires are pretty cracked but the tubes are still holding air. Any suggestions are appreciated.

It's difficult to say if your truck spent it's life in the Las Vegas dry climate, but if so, the rust may not be terminal. Definitely don't scrap them without closer inspection, as many rust-belt wheels are in fact beyond safe use and owners there want replacements. The only way to know if someone else can use your old wheels is to have the worst one sandblasted and see what's left.

JMHO, but the Budd-style wheels make the truck. I wouldn't part with mine. I had them sandblasted, powdercoated and have been running Michelin radials on them for thirty-four years now.
