  • Stu Cool's New Wheel

Just finished installing the new steering wheel from Con2R. I am pleased with the way the colors match the interior and I also think the style is more in tune with my car than the Grant wheel it replaced. I also can see the gauges better through this one. I moved the black and silver horn button medallion from the old wheel, but am considering getting a slightly larger Studebaker Red Ball medallion from Studebaker International. What do you think? The black control on the wheel is for the stereo, may have to find an alternate solution for that, we'll see.

The new wheel looks great. To tell you the truth, I really like the lazy S on the steering wheel hub. But the car is yours, so you should do what you like best. Nice job.

That IS an improvement over the "Grant" for sure, it looks like they stole the design from Studebaker, all but the "ease of entry" oval feature.

At www.Con2R.com you can design your own wheel based on several formats and lots of different colors. You end up with a custom wheel that probably will be unique. I did my best to create something similar to Studebaker steering wheels from the 60s as that is a style I like and still has a vintage look. They also have designs that follow the 40s and 50s era. They are not cheap, but not outrageous either for a custom unit. Mine cost about $400.

Loads nicer than the old one!
About the button thou, I think a flat one suits the car & wheel better but the S could be bigger & fill the plate, just my thoughts.

The new wheel looks like it is part of the interior package, not an aftermarket add on. Great move.
