  • Transmission / Overdrive: Question about transmissions

This may be a kind of dumb question, but can I use a bell housing from an automatic on a on a 3 speed manual? I have a 289 from a 63 Cruiser that had an automatic and would like to drop it into my 1959 Silverhawk 3 speed, but really dont want to attempt to meter in the 3speed bell housing.

It won't work. different holes, different bolt patterns.

The automatic bell housing has no provisions for the clutch release bearing shaft. Also different are the starters, flywheel bolts & rear mounts among other items.
