  • Where is Bill Keylon's Red Coupe Express ???

I've been a little nostalgic lately about Bill's Coupe Express. It is without a doubt the most gorgeous Coupe Express ever built. Sorry fellas, and other Coupe Express owners, but Bill's was one of the first ever built into a real modern hot rod and was done with such aplomb and grace and beauty, it almost defies further description.
I'm just wondering if anyone knows where it is.
I tried a search on the forum and turned up empty, though I do recollect having discussed it here before.
    Thanks for any tips.

Did Bill say he lost it? You don't lose a Coupe Express under the sofa cushion!

With all due respect no street rod has ever matched the original IMHO.

What drive train and suspension did Bill use?
If and I state, if, the car were found and put up for sale. I suppose one
could "modify" back to OE specs? Or at least close too them.

Is that not true for ANY vehicle, regardless of the make?

(I suppose one could count the Prowler as a factory designed street rod, but it would possibly be the only contender)

                        I love them both!

Mine will be trimmed out like the modified truck with the exception of the rear window which will be stock and it will have bumpers since I intend to drive it and want to be able to park it pretty much anywhere. ...also I'll have vent windows.

Is it hard to eliminate the vent windows like his?

Yeah, that rear window is one of the perfect touches that Bill has on his truck. That square window just never sat well with me, considering all the other sexy curves the CE has, the 2R rear window finishes the rear view nicely. You wouldn't want to see Jennifer Lopez with a square butt, would you?

I'm looking for a nice drivers side grill for my 39. And that trim piece that goes on the
"prow" from the bottom of the hood to the bottom.

Do the 39 and 40 interchange - I know that the 40 has a horizontal bars as well as the vertical bars - if they will physically fit in a 39 I Barry Hackney had some rechromed 40. TELEPHONE: 281-787-6230 EMAIL: BARRY@STUDEBAKERSITE.COM
