It is a R1 Avanti Engine for a 1964 Avanti, built Aug.6, 1963
To come up with this you have to read way down to this TITLE:
"1964 V8 engine numbering"
OR:
IF it IS a "P" it COULD be a 289 Engine BLOCK built for a 1964 Lark Type or Hawk, built Aug. (H), the 6,th. 1963.
-P H 3 6-
In THAT case what is INSIDE is unknown, 259, 289 R1/R2 Avanti, what?
Interestingly if it IS, it would be almost the SAME story as this one:

rich, i'm sure not in any position to argue with you, and believe me, i'm not, but the way i read the chart, engine numbers before 8/20/63 don't make mention of an rh plus numbers, only r and numbers. numbers starting 8/20/63 were an r, followed by another letter and THREE numbers. the one in question has but two. make any sense? thanks, george perrygfperry

I guess days less than 10 were SUPPOSED to get a 0, as in 06 not 6 just a mistake, BUT since it was built BEFORE 8/20 I have NO idea what happened, it SHOULD have been 26?
The point being, it is for a 1964 Avanti R1.StudeRich
