  • Temporary Saving a dash

Talked to SE Stude today and found the dash I was counting on is potentially months away. My plans are to have the car on the road in weeks.. That means either dropping in the President dash I have or salvaging the Speedster dash that came with it... The President dash won't accommodate the new SW gauges I have. So, that means try and salvage the old one temporarily.

it took 7 patches and nearly 50 pop rivets but with a little bit of bondo it should be serviceable until the new one arrives.

Merlin, of all the folks on this forum, you've got the most accurate username I can imagine, because you really are working some sort of magic on this car. I am amazed how quickly you have just about wrapped this thing up!

Nice to see someone doing whatever it takes to get a car on the road and get the job done (for now), especially when it involves salvaging old parts. Well done!

We'd rather fix than switch anyway, right?

Bondo done and a layer of batting was applied.

Then cut Black vinyl and glued into the underside of the dash awning. Then stretched black vinyl over the batting gluing the wraparound to the underside.

This turned out better than I expected.... maybe temporary will be permanent.

Well you could always sell that after installing the New one, to a Commander/President owner for a Speedsterized Driver.
