I have seen it a couple of times. The only ones that don't look too out of place are 56 Golden Hawk fins. Bob Peterson has one with them, and J.W. Davis had some on his many years ago.

In another word why not? and yes I have a set of 56 golden hawk plastic fins on a 62 semi custom and I think they look good and do add something to the car but also have a 56 hood and grille along with a 53 trunk lid, the car sports a 300 hp SBC 327 with a 4 speed and TT rear end and not to forget the 63-64 GT head light rings with most chrome removed and painted black and fancy wheels. to each their own, and as always your car your money.

To me, the car looks better without the fins. In my opinion, why mess with a good design?

In my humble opinion a Hawk just ain't a Hawk without fins. A bird has to have wings to fly.

                  I'd drive it!!!

Call me crazy, but I LIKE Bob's GT.
And that's saying alot- GTs are on my list of 'least want to own one' Studebakers.

Bob Your car looks ok. But to me it took studebaker untill the Gt to get it right and the 64 was the best. Not that there's anything wrong with the earlier models but why mess with perfection. The proto type pictures that I've seen of the 65 model would have been a big hit.

Dave, that's still my wallpaper pic on my 'puter.

once things get straightened out around here, i'll be looking for one - maybe a wagon or sedan. i doubt i'll have the $$$ for a coupe - if one was available...

                            Good luck with your hunt!!!

Wagons are very very few and far between. (only 159 were built)
Sedans are out there~ mine might even end up for sale someday...?
There were no 'coupes' built, but there was a hardtop version...

(but with the right parts cars I'd bet a 'coupe' could be built)
