Purpose of the metal baffle inside the dry air cleaner housing?

  • Purpose of the metal baffle inside the dry air cleaner housing?

    Is it placed for the off chance of something flying in,or for some air restriction ? bottom line do You guys think it must be in place ? thanks for any input !

    Hi Joe, I was told by a fellow Studebaker guy years ago that the baffle diverts air evenly around the surface of the filter.
    Other wise you'd have one round dirty spot where the air enters? Sounded good to me but, then he could've been pulling my chain

      Cool, I'll just rotate it until I see brown circles everywhere .

        It diverts the air flow and also changes the sound.
