  • Fuel System: idle problems

Hi we have a 1961 studebaker lark6 and were having problems keeping it running.
when we first start it it idles ok but after a little while (probably less than a minute) it starts to rev higher and higher so we tried adjusting the idle screw and it didnt help then it stopped starting all together. it would start for one second then die again.
im going to try to adjust the choke next and hope that works.
    any ideas would be great!

Compressed air to blow out the needle and seats on the carb should help. Re-installed and try it.

It seems that your automatic choke does not work properly. I suggest you follow the step by step procedure in the shop manual to check all the adjustements of your carb. You should have a Carter AS.
You can find some info there: http://www.studebaker-info.org/tech/...5/mm65stu.html Scroll down to page 1243 and don't forget to say Thank You to Bob.
      Nice day to all.

Make sure the gas cap is a vented one.
