Yes it was directly in the middle of the rear parcel/package tray, saw one at Dover.

The Speaker is a 4"X10" the same as the front speaker, and must be a 10 OHM, not the common 4-8 or 8 OHM if you are using the Original Studebaker/Delco Radio.
So the Grille fits a 4X10.

Those grilles are rare but there is a GM one available that looks very close, possibly even the same. Hopefully someone one the forum here will have previously compared them.

I used an aftermarket one that fits early Mustangs. It fits, but naturally is not originally.

I can probably help you with the original grille as I don't need it for my '64 conv. project.

Studerich, I put the replacement speakers in from stude international. I don't know if they are 8 or 10 ohm. What would happen if we used 8 ohm speakers and where can you get 10 ohm speakers? Thanks

Speaker impedances are nominal at best. The effect of using an 8 ohm rather than a 10 ohm would be negligible.

                      i agree with Wayne!

now if you were going for a "audiophile" sound with high wattage amps, sub-woofers, etc. - there might be a problem with ohms... most speakers have a notice on the magnet with the info you want.

just make sure all the screws, etc. are tight. that should keep any rattle away.

I think Dennis Dupont of Derry, NH had a NOS rear speaker kit of this vintage on his table in the swap meet at Dover.

Is Dennis the gentleman that had a NOS 65-66 clock? Missed the rear speaker kit.

If you want original, great sounding speakers, that won't blow out your output of your radio (because of too low an impedance) Here is your answer.
