That will be real interesting since the guy never does what customer wants. They gave up talking about price on the show as his charges were way out there and getting a lot of bad press.

The car, an '83 Avanti was at Dover. The owner had trailered it up from VA. He just had 4 miles on the 350 fuel injected SBC so it was not dialed in yet. The car was nicely painted in 2003 Corvette Anniversary paint, a maroon with tons of metal flake in it. The interior was also redone in a beige leather with suede seat inserts. The door sills were a sight to behold. They were one piece aluminum with the Avanti script in the middle of the sill that lit up a blue LED color when door was opened. Steering was changed to a rack and pinion. It was different looking down at the steering and seeing the steering rod and knuckle tuck back toward the motor through an opening between the last two header tubes on the drivers side. The rear end was a Jag type from Fab or Factory Five, the kit car builders. There were a lot of extras on the car like electric power steering, front and rear bumper were shaved off giving it a different look. The Phantom Works people even made up end caps for the rear of the drip rails tapering down to an arrow point. Owner said Phantom had it for 55 weeks and they were rushed because of the TV production schedule. This was a verrrry expansive restoration. The car did get a first place 392 or 393 points in the Modified Non Studebaker Powered Class.
