  • Fuel System: R2 Carburetor fitting Dave Thibeault Carb

The Carburetor fitting i have on my R2 repo carb from Dave Thibeault Is a big ugly thing that interferes with my Carb linkage. I'm running a gasket/aluminum plate/gasket for heat soak that may be the problem. But the fitting into the carb is so thick it It sticks out about 1-1/2 inches.
So does anyone have a pic of an R2 carb fitting?

Studebaker AFB's had the fuel inlet at the passenger side front of the carb. Click image for larger version

If you are really runninig it as an R2 with blow through the top is critical.

Bez posted a pick of a normally aspirated AFB carburetor for Studebaker.

Notice the holes in the top of the carburetor. They are the vent holes for the primary venturis and the vent for the bowl tubes.

A blow through carburetor top should not have these.. (need the reason?)

It should look like this with no holes and front fuel inlet port.

Easy enough to drill and tap with stainless set screws. The cover is still vented internally anyways. I rebuild R2 carbs too!https://www.facebook.com/BezAutoAlch...type=1&theater

Ok found this video on youtube, this is what the carb looks like, this is not my car, but the carb has the big ugly fuel inlet. I did fix the linkage by, turning it upside down. The car in this video also turned his linkage upside down. According to the Artical on the racing Studebaker site R2s did use a 3588S carb number.

by R5 LarkSTUDEBAKER AFB numbers and flow data. Note the high cfm on a R1. Can someone measure the primary and secondary bore on either the R1 or R2 carb. Need to know if the primary is 1 9/16 or 1 7/16. I think it is 1 9/16.
