  • Correct Battery for a 1965 Studebaker

    Hello guys,
I am in the market for a new battery for the 65. I was reading a lot of the old posts about this subject. What battery came in the 65 and 66 Studes? Did the company use Willard or the Studebaker batteries? Did the batteries have the 6 caps on top? Unfortunately, I can't spend the money for an antique battery and am looking at the tar topper with some interest. Thanks.

Hi Nate, My 65 Wagonaire has a group 24 battery in her.
I saw on a previous post you can purchase a cover that looks like a tar top battery with caps.
    Check that out.

The correct battery is a group 24. It would not be a tar top. Flat top with 6 caps.

Was that a Willard group 24? The 65s didn't use Studebaker batteries did they?

I still have a NOS Studebaker battery in the original box.

So did they use willard or the stude battery in Canadian built 65s? I love that picture, Mr. Quinn!

Willard was used. Studebaker International sells decals for Willard.
