Lark Starter needed

I am in need of a GOOD working starter for a 1960 6 cyl Lark. The Tag riveted to housing is an
Auto-Lite but stamped on numbers are unreadable. Need this to get car running. Can anybody
help?????

Have you checked with a local auto electric service to get it rebuilt?

I second that, New Starters were never something many would ever buy, because rebuilding has always been available much cheaper than New, so doing a replacement does not make much sense either.
The only thing that could actually Break would be the Bendix Extension Housing the rest is fixable.

This will save the few remaining Starters of any given type for those that really have none and need them.
Also, you will save a huge amount on Shipping.

When the Bendix nose on my '33 broke I had a certified welder put it back together! It's been fine now for over twenty years so, nothing is not repairable!

I once had to find an armature for a starter as they are becoming scarce but, are still being reproduced. Otherwise, brushes, bushings, etc. These are the bread and butter of auto electric shops and service a multiple variety of brands, models and applications. So, if you tell the man at the counter you need a starter for a Studebaker and he looks at you like you're goofy... you and I know who the really goofy one is !

Any application may be specific. The only way to tell would be from a parts catalog. When I replaced the 232 that was coupled to the DG200 in my '53 with a '63 289 and a '61 FOM, I had to find a starter from a '61 V8. The issue was the throwout on the Bendix matching the ring gear. Your bushings, brushes, armatures, etc are going to be Autolite, Prestolite or Delco and your local auto electric shops can do that because...THAT'S WHAT THEY DO !

Got one from a 59 - 6 with standard shift. Condition unkown as it was in the trunk with other engine parts.
