  • Body / Glass: Glass window replacement on rear flip out windows of 58 Silver Hawk

    Hello,
I was wondering if anyone has discovered a good way to replace the glass and rubber on the rear flip out windows of a 58 Silver Hawk? I assume that I will need to drill out the rivets but if I do is that a place to get them and is there an easy way to replace them?
Thanks in advance for any help,
    Tim

Those windows are common to all C bodies from 1953 through 1961 and, yes, you must disassemble by un-riveting. I got the chrome-headed tubular rivets from SI. I think they were $1 each but I couldn't find them anyplace else. I seated them by starting the flare with a center punch and finishing with a flat punch. I'm sure others have found better methods but mine worked. I also found out, after completing the re-assembly, I had put the wrong glass on the wrong side. Now the DOT etched mark reads backwards! Only I would notice.
