In Mechanix Illustrated Tom McCahill did a test of a 1951 4 door Commander with staight shift overdrive and got 12.8 seconds 0 to 60 and a automatic did it in 16.2 seconds. He did not do a 1/4 mile time. I doin't know how many of you remember McCahill so I am showing my age.

I had a 1951 Pontiac 2dr sedan 3 speed straight 8 , as my first car, i ran it at the drag races and turned in the 19s, this was 1959. Later in 1964 i had a 1952 Oldsmobile 2 dr that ran 17s.
