55 Wire Wheel cleanup, minor problem

I'm driving my Speedster to an AACA National show pretty soon. In electing to drive and enjoy my Studebaker to the show. That's all Ok except that I've found that it takes close to 1 1/2 hours to clean the wire wheels up on a lift. The section behind the wires is a bear to shine up. The reason that it's a minor thing is I'm not sure that the judges will care (car in the past has won a AACA Grand National).

I think some clever forum member must have devised a "magic" solution for this. Any help on this minor annoyance would be appreciated.

You've obviously already done the heavy work. Why not drive and enjoy? Once you get there, do some detailing with Windex and get your Senior First. Then go out and recklessly impress anyone on the road!

Put them in the dishwasher!! if it can handle heavy pots & pans (which I'm sure it can), it can certainly handle your hubcaps and do a thorough job of getting them clean!

I have found that Dow Bathroom spray cleaner does a great job...spray...wait...rinse...wipe dry...sparkling clean

Whatever your method for cleaning, add some additional zing with Surf City Garage Killer Chrome polish. Works on stainless & aluminum as well.

They bolt on with the wheels, so taking them off to clean is not going to help on show day. If it's light road film, the Windex might do it. There are mild acids used to clean hotel ceramics that you can spray on and just rinse away. Safe trip.

Beautiful car, in front of a beautiful home! The one thing I noticed in the photo is that the rear white sidewall appears to be significantly wider that the front one. I have a feeling that the AACA judges may mark you down for that. I know you didn't ask for a critique of your car, but I just thought I'd mention that because it kinda jumped out at me. As for the wheel covers, places like Griot's Garage (catalog available) have all sorts of great detailing tools to help (http://www.griotsgarage.com). If you don't have time to order something, even your local auto supply store may have a tool, etc. to help out. Good luck!!

Rockne 10, I'm with you all the way, driving the cars is where I'm at, thats why I'm not trailring the car to the show. I keep all my cars nice but my enjoyment is driving them. A trailered car is a knic-knack IMHO.

That is probably no more than the required 2 Lbs. less Air in the Rear Tires! The sidewall does look lower.
